I just came back from vacationing in Orlando (yes, Orlando is mentionned again) and when picking up my rental car reserved through Expedia, I showed the clerk the papers my insurance company had sent me confirming my full coverage on rental cars in the US.
The clerck still wouldn’t let me have my car if I didn’t take their minimum insurance coverage saying it is a Florida state law, and there was nothing they could do about it. I barked and showed again and again the mention of full-coverage along with each liability and amount my insurance already covered.
“It’s a state law, you HAVE to take it to get the car” he said.
Since I had already paid for the rental tru Expedia and needed a car, I finally gave in, but ended up paying close to $200 more than I should have.
Needless to say, I will NEVER book a rental with them again.
