Comment on CONSUMERS ALLEGE DOLLAR RENT A CAR AND THRIFTY CAR RENTAL TRICK RENTERS WITH INSURANCE SCAM by Zhang

We’re from Ontario Canada and travelled to Orlando between March 2nd and 9th, 2013. We prepaid $212.39 for our car rental for DOLLAR RENT A CAR from Expedia for 8 days. After we came back from vacation, we noticed they overcharged us $221.08. So I called back and was told it’s insurance charge. I was so shocked about the charge since I said NO to their agent at Orlando Airport 3 times to refuse insurance at the time when we picked up our car on March 2nd. Because we got credit card that covers car rental insurance, why should I waste another $221.08 to cover nothing? I talked to their customer service on March 13th over the phone and the agent was so rude to me saying that I signed some agreement for insurance, there’s nothing they can do. I told him that I declined the insurance at the airport with the agent and clearly got the answer from the agent that there’s no additional cost since we’ve already prepaid it from Expedia. He said he didn’t know what our conversation was with the agent. They just go by agreement. Then I realized it’s a scam. I need to talk to his manager. He said there’s no manager. He’s the one who’s taking care of it and his tone was so terrible. I called them again at around 3pm on the same day talking to another agent Tamica and retold my story. This time is better, she acknowledged my concern and said she could credit me half back. I didn’t buy it since I don’t think I’m responsible for the scam. So she offered me to talk to her manager Karen. However, it’s just a voice mail. Then I left message for her and still didn’t hear back from her. I’m reading online and found there’re so many victims like us. I really need you help to fight for that and thought this kind of jerk company shouldn’t exist in such a competitive market any more. Please keep me updated and I hope I can get refund from them. Thank you very much!

- I called them on March 13 twice. Forgot to record the time for the 1st attempt. 2nd one was the same day at 3pm talking to their phone agent Tamica and she said she could give me half back but I disagreed with that since it’s a scam and I wouldn’t pay for that. So she escalate the call to her manager Karen. However she’s not in and I left message for her. But still didn’t hear anything back from her.
