- We have primary car rental protection with our Amex card, and so may decline any insurance coverage on rental cars. The agent at the Thrifty counter refused to accept this and held us “hostage” from leaving with a car until we accepted their insurance. I believed that we could fix this problem when we returned the car, but obviously this did not occur. They also charged us for various items on the rental, including the insurance, at 6 days instead of 5; the rental receipt clearly says 5 day rental, but these items were charged at 6 days. Overall, we were overcharged by approximately 102.00. I have been a loyal Thrifty customer for over 15 years, and with regards to this dispute, phone calls to their customer service department were rudely refused. I also disputed this through our Amex card but Thrifty denied the disputed amount here also.
