I rented a car from Dollar/Thrifty in Spokane WA (GEG) last summer for one week and was duped into getting their loss/damage waiver. I told the agent that I wasn’t interested because I have my own insurance and that my credit card also offers rental insurance. He stated that those insurances do not cover the loss time that the car would be in for repairs if any were needed and that I would have to pay out of pocket if that were the case. It made me worried so I asked if there was any discount for this coverage. He said that if I get the coverage, he would credit my credit card for the cost to refill the gas tank when I returned the car. I added the extra coverage thinking that I was getting a “deal”. When I returned the car and asked for the credit, the agent wasn’t there and when I told the other agent working that day about my credit, he said that they don’t do t hings that way. I asked to speak to a manager but they were no available and I soon had to leave on my flight home. I was very unpleased with this transaction. The loss/damage coverage cost the same as the the rental rate for the car so I pretty much paid double the price to rent it. I still have my receipt which shows tha
