- I prepaid for a Dollar Rental WITH “Rental Car Protection” through Hotwire. The car was dirty and had acceleration issues. Upon return, I discover I was charged an additional $177.07! My rent was due in several days and I now couldn’t afford it! When I contacted Hotwire they asked me to fax them the receipts after which they never contacted me! (I had assumed I was double billed the rental cost.) I called again and they finally told me that I was charged for “additional coverages” and told me to contact Dollar. I had declined ALL extra coverage at the counter and was led to believe I was only confirming what had already been paid for. The Dollar reps were mean! It appears that the company (like many others) purposefully hire “stereotypically rude, young, with attitudes”! They said “a contract is a contract”, refus ed to transfer me to a manager and instead transferred me to Hotwire! I demand a full refund of $177.07 PLUS additional interest for EVERYDAY it has not been returned!
